Big things come in small packages, and the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-WX9 16.2 MP Exmor R CMOS Digital Still Camera is no exception. At only 3.8 inches wide and 2.2 inches high, this camera weighs little over 4 oz, yet has a 3 inch screen and offers users the ability to capture HD quality videos as well as stunning photographs. 

The camera’s 16.2 megapixel and 1080i  HD video capabilities ensure that photographs and videos can be taken with clarity. A feature unique to this camera allows still pictures to be taken simultaneously with video. Although of the same subject, the pictures are saved as separate files than the video. For those that enjoy capturing panoramic views, this camera comes with the option to do just that with a Sweep  Panorama mode. Quick response times ensure that fewer special moments will be missed, and shots can be taken at shorter intervals. The DSC-WX9 is also unique due to the ability of the photographer to capture HD 3D images that can be viewed on devices that are compatible. 

The lithium ion battery can be recharged between uses, and memory and photo storage is an unnecessary concern, as the DSC-WX9 is compatible with both ProDuo and SDHC cards. At 5x, the zoom can be used to photograph objects that are further away than a few feet, and a 25mm wide angle lens offers the ability to fit more of a scene into a single shot. 

Backlight correction by this camera helps take the best possible pictures in varying light conditions, compiling two separate shots into one, while backlight defocusing acts similar to the function of an SLR camera, and highlights the subject of the photo for better image composition.
